RIFLE SHOOTING

KARORI CLUB. Members of the Karori Rifle Club fired die match for the Willoughby Cup at Trentham on Saturday. This (cup is nllottodvto the annual musketry course (service conditions), and comprises the following practices :—No. 5, 5 6hots., application, 200 yds., ltfng; No. 6, 10 shots rapid, Msec., 200 yds., lying; No. 7, 5 allots, application, 200 yds., sitting or kneeling; No. 8, 5 shots snap-shoot, figure 3, 200 yds., s?ec. exposure, lying; No. 9. 5 shots, application, 500 yds., lying. Tho weather was most unpleasant, a steady rain falling and tho light being difficult. Nevertheless, a keen contest resulted and somo good shooting was -made. The eup was eventuallv won by President IT, Marshall, with a score- of 93, carrving with it also the fi"st pnae (Messrs. T. and W. Young's No. 1 rrophv), Rifleman F. Cliing coming second and securing Messrs. T. and W. Young's No. 2 trnnh)'. President Marshal, m his last four shoots for this- cur.. lw" won it three times, and lost on the no on one occasion. Next Saturday the club commences its club championships with tWnrt of the, icoond series at ranges of 300 and 500 yds.

PETONE CLUB. The Petono Club intended making a start with ' the championship series on Saturday, but owing to somo of tho niflfnuora being away in Australia, it was deeded to postpone it (or a week. However, a coniuetition was held for a spoon and ammunition prizes. Owing to tho inclement weather there was rather a small attendance. W Wilson was the spoon dinner, C. Hofneus and R. K Flaws securing tho other prizes. Scores

SUBURBS CLUB. Tho members of the Suburbs Club continned their shooting at on Saturday »t ranges 300 and 500 yard", ton shota at ench range. Tho weather »m not good for high, scores, the ram and light interfering with elevation. Some good individual range scores were marts bv P. Barcham and J. L. Turner at 300 "Iris, and by A. Harris at 500 yards. Ihe host score for -the. day was made by A. Harris, OS. In the nam .natch Caphn and Snelling 173, Harris ami htenart 12, Fellingham and Brcgan 170, Boon and Wilson 170 were tho top scores.
