TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES' ASSOCIATION. An extraordinary general meeting of ■(he Wellington members of thc'Tempor<iry Civil Servants' Association was held in the Chamber of Commerce last night, Mr. T. R- Brooks presiding over an attend .men of 50 odd-members. After disposal of preliminary business, the draft rules as submitted by tho secretary were considered and finally adopted.

The rules stated that the objects for which the association was established were:—To render loyal and' faithful service to the Government of Now Zealand for the furthering of this common interest. 'To obtain the payment of the maximum cost-of-living, bonus as nqw or hereafter to be paid, such payment-to be made retrospective to April 1, 1920. To obtain redress or assistance for members in any matters of hardship or loss arising out 6f, or attributable to, their service whilst in tho temporary empjpyment of the State. To devise means atfd ways, and if neccssary. to bring about tbs enactment of legislation whereby the present or future working conditions of its members may be mndo more remunerative or congenial. To promoto social intercourse amongst tho members throughout the Dominion, and if necessary or advisable to establish clubs or other social fraternities. To co-operate with any institution of a similar nature or kind, having similar objects, for the furthering of/common interests. All persons, and of either eex, who may, on or More tho first day of April, 1920, be employed as temporary servants of tho State and undor the jurisdiction and control of the-Public Service Commissioners, are eligible as members of the association, and upon tho application oh any other person tho executive has discretionary power to admit that person to membership.
