WATERSIDE CONFERENCE
THE PROCEEDINGS ENDED. The conference between-representatives of the waterside workers and the employers of waterside labour has concluded. Tho discussion of' the request made''by too waterside workers for increased wages,- in consideration of the increased cost of living, was inconclusive, and the 'conference decided that the matter should ;be <liscussed again after the Arljitrrrtion Court had heard argument at tlie proposed special sitting and given its final decision. . Some suggested alterations in method of working on tho wharves were discussed fully and certain decisions were reached. The parties were able to agree on. some proposals that are . expecttxl to eecuro increased efficiency in the handling ,o£ cargo. These decision? will be referred now to the' annual conference of the New Zealand Waterside Workers lederation, which is to meet at Timnru on ber i.
