' MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The Mayor (Mr. E. P. Rishworth) presided over last night's meeting of the Lower Ilutt Borougn Council. - Mr. A. Pryde wrote stating that ho was prepared to sell his property in River - Bank Street to the cmmral for .£IOOO, giving an option over it in proper terms. A communication was received From Hie TTutt Count}' Coum-il advising ils intention to rebuild bridges at I akuiafcahi and Stokes Valley and a culvert on Rimutaka Hill road, and to apply to Hie Governor-General for power to construct those works and to collect from I hi' various local .bodies of the district certain proportions oF the cost (the proposed proportion for the TTutt borough beins tru per cent.); and that a conference of these local bodies would bo held in Wellington on November 29 to discus* the propo<?nls.~-Tt was .decided to ]r>dj?n objection lo the allocation.
