The Manuka will leavo for Lyttelton tonight', and is duo back on Thursday. She is to snil at noon the same day for Sydney and Hobart. TAIROA IN POET. Tho new steamer. Tairoa, which is on her maiden voyage, arrived in port from Newcastle yesterday, and berthed alongside tho Mamari at Glasgow Wharf. The.Tairoa belongs to tho Shaw-Savill licet, and is a vessel of 5046 tons registered. She was built at Newcastle-on-Tyne by Messrs. Armstrong and Whitworth, being delivered finished early in July of this year. Tho Tairoa haß steel decks, and is a twin-, screw vessel. Her keel was laid down threo tiraeß, the first lime being in 1915, but each time she had to make room for war vessels being built. The Tairoa holds the distiuction of being the llrßt merchant vessel built by Messrs. Armstrong and Whitworth. Tho officers state she is a fine sea bout. Captain F. Kidman, late of th'o Kumara, is in charge of the Tairoa, and has the following officers with him:—First officer. Mr. V. Thomas; second, Mr. G. Mar-. tin; third, Mr. J. She left the lastmentioned port on November 9, and encountered heavy weather, with southerly gales, throughout tho voyage across tho Tasman ISea. The Tairoa is to load here, and at Napier, Gisborne, Whakatane, aud Auckland, for Boston aud New York. FOR LONDON. Tho Corinthic is to sail at daybreak tomorrow for Loudon. The Karamea is to sail for London tomorrow .. The Mamari is expected to sail on November 23 for London. ' REMUERA ENCOUNTERS'HEAVY WEATHER. The New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Remuera is due to-day from London. An early wireless message from the vessel stated that she expected to make port early in the mo'rninz, but a later radio states that the Remuera has run into heavy weather, and i 3 being delayed. She will probably nrrivo this afternoon. ' KAIKOURA TO LOAD. The Kaikoura is to leave Newcastle this week for New Zealand. Sho 13 to load here and at Timaru, and Wangauui, returning to Wellington to sail finally early iu December for London. POST CAROLINE FOR BLUFF. The departure of. the C. and D. liner Port Caroline for Bluff has been postponed until Thursday. After Bluff the Port Oaroline will go to Port Chalmers, and is to sail from there for London early in December. DURHAM FOR MONTREAL. Tho Durham, which left Montreal for New Zealand on October 22, and here on Auckland on November 22, and hero on November 29. She later visits Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Melbourne. A SLIGHT COLLISION. Yesterday afternoon a slight collision occurred In the harbour between the harj hour ferry steamer Cobar and a coal hulk. Tho 4.15 boat for Day's Bay waa backing out from the wharf when sho struck the coal hulk, which was be'ng brought up to the wharf by the Natono, Btem in. No damage so far as is known was done to either the Cobar or the hulk. NEW YORK CARGO FOR NEW ZEALAND. The Kathlamha left Now York on Octo-' ber 30 with cargo for Auckland. Wellington. Brisbane, aud Sydney. The vessel is dm; at Auckland on December 6, and at Wellington eight days later. TOFUA TO SAIL ON THURSDAY. The departure of,tho Union Company's steamer Tofua has been delayed until 4 p.m. on Thursday. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain W. D. Cameron, who hos been ou holiday, took command of the Wahiuo yesterday, in place of Captain Edwin, who is goini on leaie. Mr. G. 11. Morgan, first officer of tho Maori, has left that vessel. Mr. A. j. Moody has joined the Blenheim as mate. Mr. E. Cox and Mr. J. Brisco arrived iu Wellington as extra, officers aboard the Manuka yesterday, to report at the Union Company's office here. During the southerly gale on Saturday night, the Blackball Company's' motor launch broke away from alongside the. steamer Ngakuta in the , E trcaiu, find went ashore 'on the rocks at Kaiwarra. Iho launch is holed, but no other structural damage has resulted. Owing to the strong southerly wind, it was found impossible to relaunch the boat yesterday, but when conditions abate she will be taken to the Clyde Quay boat harbour, where repairs will be. effected. The Kahika's departuro for Westport has been postponed until Wednesday. Bad weather prevails on the West Coast, and a telegram received by the Union Company yesterday stated that the Klni, Kakapo, atld Kowkai, bound from Wellington to West Coast ports, had been forced to shelter at Totananui. The Komata. bound for- Westport, has been reported from Nelson. Th.j Flora is duo from Pjcton to-day to bunker, and is expected to sail for Onehunga this afternoon. An unexpected arrival iu port yesterday wan the Karu, which put in while bound from Tarakohe to Lyttelton. Owing to the heavy weather the Karu has been sheltering at Capo Campbell, but put into Wellington owing to being short of bunker coal. Tim Kokiri will not leave Westport now until Thursday for, Wellington. The Tahiti is to leave Auckland for Vancouver on November 27. The Corinna is now due from Nelson to-morrow. It iB hoped to dispatch her for Now Plymouth in the evening. The Anchor Company's Bteamer Nikau is to go on the Patent Slip to-day for painting and cleaning. As a consequence, tho vessel will miss a trip, but will leave at 5 p.m. on Thursday for Nelson. , Tho Invcrcurgill, which has beeu held up in Wangauui since Tuesday last owing to th=. state of the bar, is expected here to-day. v The Waitomo iB due on Thursday from Newcastle with a shipment of coal. Bound from Wellington to New York the Northumberland left Panama on Nuvnmber 9 for Newport News. The Opawa left Panama on November 9 for Auckland. Tho Moana is to leave Sydney on' Friday for Wellington. Tho Waikowaita is expected to leave Liverpool on November 17 for New Zealand. The Wahehe, recently purchased by Burns. Philp and Co., Ltd., has been re- . named the Marella. and is being dispatched on her first voyage from tjydney to Java and Singapore, via Melbourne and Adelaide, about the middle of December. Tho Marella is a steamer of 7372 tons grosß, with accommodation for 182 iirstclasß, 80 second-class, and 32 third-class passengers. She Is a twin-screw 6tcanier, with a speed of IZJ knots, and is now to riiakc regular trips to Singapore.
