PROPOSED REDUCTION IN WEIGHT. At the meeting of .tho Welling ton Chamber of Commerce yesterday tho following le-Aer was received from the Wellingtoli Co-operative Waterside Labour Employment Association:—"Dear Sirs.— ■Vt tho last meeting of tho National Waterside Disputes Conimilteo held on' Tuesday, Sepibinber U, the question of weights of sacks wns discussed. The representatives of tho waterside workers advocated that no sacks of potatoes, or other produce, over a certain weight should be handled by tho workers. After discussion flie following resolution was unanimously carried, and as you will see I am instructed to ask your assistance in having tho weight redyjcpd'-.-'Tliis committee agrees that a letter be sent to all chambers of commerce and to Ae bead office of the New Zealand Railways, asking their assistance in limiting the weights of sacks of potatoes to not. (sacks m), and to point out than if no improvement is effected further action may follow; this matter to bo again discussed in *ix months from date I would therefore ask for your assistance, as if the improvement is not. effected it is most p-roli-ctble that the men will refuse to handle packages over the above weight.
