QUESTIONED BY PETONE COUNCIL. At Inst night's meeting of the Petone Borough Council o letter was received' from the Wellington Automobile Association asking for. informntion a* to tho number of motorists fined and the amounts extending 1 over the past two rears. Councillor Kyle: I think it is rather "cheekv". on their part, Councillor Anderson: They did not wvut to know tho number of pedestrians whohad been knocked down by motors. Severn! councillors were of the opinion; that Petone was being singled out in Hip matter. At this stage it was_ moved that the communication he received. Councillor Cox said he could hardly hold with that action. But if they must accept the association's intimation, as an honest endeavour to assist in minimising accident*, he thought tho letter should be Teplied to. He moved as o.n amendment that the association be asked whether a snecial distinction had been made of Petone, or whether it was to be ceneral. Councillor Tovey thought that they might be trying to prove that Petone'*. obiect was to make money out of it. nmj not consider the safety of the pubffo at all. - Councillor Cox's flmondment lapsed for want of a seconder, and the original motion was carried.
