The Board of Managers of the Jtasterton Technical School lias resolved that a easo of drawing instruments up to two guineas in value will bo awarded as a prize to each of tho t\vq students who successfully completed maps of the borough of Maotorton. The. monthly meeting of tho Mastcrton A. and I'. Association was hold on Saturday, Mr. M. H. Buick presiding;. Twentyfive ordinary members and two life members wero elected. / The treasurer's statement showed a dobit balance of .£2539 lGs. 7d., which included a bunk overdraft of .£2500. Mr. A.. S. Evans, mrtnagcr of tho Now Zealand Farmers' Distributing Company, was elected n member of tho committee in succession to Mr. if. B. Iggultlen. The question, of the purchase of 19 acres of land, offered by tho Associated Auctioneers' 'Association, with a view to the future requfrcmonts of tho showgrounds, was considered at a meeting of the fjrounds Committee earlier in tho day. On tho motion of Mr. G. K. Perry, it was resolved that although a portion of the land offered might bo useful, tho committee felt that in the face of tho uncertainty of the financial outlook; they could not recommond tha purchase at tho present timo. --It was inought that the ground- was not' of a suitable nature- for (ha grazing of stock in February, and that with a little rearranging of tho existing ground there would be ample, room for cars for' some considern'blo timo to come.
