TIGER WANTED FOR THE "ZOO"
« The following letter has been addressed to the Prime Minister by the Wellington Zoological Society:— Dear Sir—The Wellington Zoological Society has long been trying to procure .i tiger, to be placed in the Wellington Zoo, but in consequence of the late war, the society hns been unable to reach this object. Lately, however, wo noticed that It wan reported that more tigers we.ro being offorcd to the London Zoological Society than that society could accommodate in the London Zoo. I am therefore authorised by my society to ask whether you will kindly ask our Hish Commissioner in London,-who knows Dr. Chalmers Mitchell, the director of tho London Zoo, to inquire whether, and on what terms, the London Zoological Society would supply a tiger to he proflcntcd by my society to the Wellington City Council, the council having agreed to accept and provide for tho tiger if wo got it,—Yours sincerely, (Sgd.) JOHN CASTLE. The Prime Minister has replied that ho is arranging for the request to roceivn earlv attention. I -
