TECHNICAL SCHOOL WORK

Tho buildings, workshops, and practical classes of the Wellington Technical College wore open for inspection yesterday afternoon and evening. In the art department specimens of the students' work .in modelling, carving, feather work, design, illustration, drawing, and paint:ing from life'and still life, stencilling and embroidery, were much, admired. In the cookery department there was a Varied display of cakes, pastry, confection.ery. preserves, fruits, etc., all of .which •found a ready sale among tho visitors. In the jewellery, art' metal work and pottery room there was to be eccn, amidst a great variety of work,, the silver trowel that had been made by the students for the ceremony of laving the foundation atone of tho now college buildings on Mount Cool;, and a handsome silver cup that will be a trophy for the senior championship of the athletic sports to be held at Newtown Park on November 17. Work done in the engineering department was shown, including some excellent work done by first, second, and third-year flttufents. The display of tools' was excellent. The practical classes in plumbing and science were seen at work, while the carpentry workshop display disclosed articles of beauty and utility.
