— ♦— —- 1 - THE END. OF THE SESSION SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES AND APPROPRIATION BILL BUSINESS COMPLETED LAST NIGHT The session of Parliament was brought, to_ a close late last night. The House of had sat until after. 2 a.m. hi. orlTer to pass tho 1 Finance Bin through all Its stages.• Both ohambers met later in the morning and proooeded to deal hurnediy with the remaining business. Tho House, after subjecting Ministers to a bombardment of questions without notice.for more than an hour, proceeded to put through tho Insurance Amendment Bill. Then the Supplementary Estimates appeared, and the House started to pass the votes almost before the printed copies had reached the hands of members. The classes did not all escape debate. There was talk about museums, superannuation payments and spme other matters. But tho House was in a hurry and did not brook much delay. Just before tho djnnei adjournment the chairman of the Defence Committee presented a report containing the new Defence policy. The report seemed to escape the notice of most members and there was no debate. The Appropriation Bill was the business of the evening. The Council was/ finished early and had to wait then until tho Souse sent along the Bill. A few. of tho most determined talkers had speeches to make, and tho Bill proTided plenty of topics. But. the Council got the Bill without very much delay. Then there was a pause while the signature of the Governor-General was obtained. The session ended just after 11 p.m. ' ' .
