In tho House- of Representatives, Mr. Hushes moved a motion for tho expulsion of Mr. Mahon, in view of his disloyal utterances. Mr. Mahon was not present, but wrote to Mr. Hughes regretting His .absence, and stating that ho was nn'aware th<iß thoi oath of on Australian Parliamentarian tied him in allegiance to Mr. Lloyd George. Ho submitted that the terms illegal and disloyal were not applicable to Ins speech. At tho conclusion .of Mr. Hughes's speech Mr. Tudor moved nri amendment: "That the House, while, opposed to sedition and disloyalty, is of opinion that 'the allegations against Mr. Mahon should not bo .dealt with by the House, as -they do not concern his conduct in Parliament; that the fudisiiu? hah ample po\yor to bring any person to trial for Bedition, and every person so charged is to a public trial by a jury of his peers."
