At a meeting of the Wellington Diocesan Council of the New Zealand Catho- . ho Federation,', the following resolution i was unanimously adopted :—"That this council-, on behalf o£ the Catholics of the archdiocese,' views with the deepest ■sense of regret the unjustifiable interference of i the nresent Parliament with the conscience and teaching of the Catholic community of-New Zealand. It is.rocrettablo that. if. tho .principle of the urose'nt interference is correct, the snmo principle of excluding Catholics was .not . pursued in 1916, was to deprive Catholics of obtaining the grand war record they obtained.
