ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY MORNING. Wellington is receiving more than ita full share of late raws. With the longest day only five weeks away, the prevailing weather has been very wet and wintry. Friday night saw one of the. heaviest, downpours of rain experienced this year. The meteorological records showed that for the twenty-four hours ended 9 a.m. on Saturday 72 points (nearly threeauarters of an inch) were recorded 1 at the Thorndon rain-gauge station, and as the fall in Wellington East i 9 generally heavier than across the harbour, it is fair to assume that at least three-quarters of on inch of rain fell—which is very heavy for this time of tho year. Wellington did not monopolise all the had weather. At Bealey 2J inches of rain fell in the twenty-four hours, and Greymouth was sou6ed to tho extent of 1} inches in the twentyrfour hours—the heaviest falls of the year.
