SOME OP THE CANDIDATES. Tho cloction of tho Slakara and H«t{ County Councils will be held on November 10, aud nominations closed this week. Tho ratepayers of Hutt county have never shown so much interest in county matters as during the present campaign, Candidates havo addressed meetings in 5Ti parts of the district. , For the Porirua riding, the four jetirinjf members offer themselves for re-
election, and three other candidates are announced. i Mr. the present chairman of • *1° council, has addressed meetings in • all centres, and lias been advocating the raising of' a loan, "of ,£3OOO to procure up-to-date rond-making machinery. 11l this he was supported by retiring members of the council. At a meeting held at Ohariu, a resolution was passed recommending the incoming council to immediately take steps to raise a loan of ! .£3OOO, or as required, for the purchase and installation of machinery for crushing metal, and an up-to-date meafls of metal_ transport. : Similar resolutions were passed a* Titahi Ray, Porirun. (Declared elected.) Hospital and Charitable Aid Bfvml.— Robert Jftould and Ernest. Windley. (One to be elected.) Hutt County. llaungaroa Hiding—Frederick Castle, Frederick Garnet Cooper, Alfred Robert Edwards, Jacob Geajigc, Angus John Jl'Curdy, and John Whitcinaji. (Two to elected.) "" Epuui Riding.—Morris Whitei-ood Welch. (Declared elected.) Horokiwi Riding.—John Barclay. (Declared elected.) * Wliarerou Riding—Arthur Iver Mackay. (Declared elected.) <=■ Wainui-o-mata Riding.—Harry Dunsfan Atkinson and John William Burdan. '(One to be elected.) Hospitable and Charitable Aid Board. —Frederick Garnet Cooper, Angus John M'Cimly.
