DANGEROUS INTERSECTIONS
» — LETTER TO THE MAYOR. In ihio opinion of the executive of the Kelburn Batepayare' Association dancers to the public exist by reason of the formation of the intersections at the corner ofi Mount 'Street and Wellington terrace and at both «iids of the viaduct leading from kelburn to Northland and Karon, and a letter on tliie subject lias been addressed to the Mayor by Jlr K Meadowcroft, chairman of the Ejlljurii Ratepayers' Association. In the course of his letter Mr. Meadowcroft says:—" Vt the first-mentioned of these intersections there have been accidents in the post fortunately not attended with very serious consequences. But it is felt that, owing to the fact that' at these intersections it is impossible for the drivers of approaching vehicles (and ■ especially motor _ vehicles) to see each other from any distance, there will some day be a 'serious accident or accidents'which will so arouse public opinion'as to comcrf the council to ■effect improvements "which will prevent the recurrence of 'such accidents. The danger is increased by the fact that the localities in question are necessarily frequented by children going to and from the schools in both vicinities. It is recognised that to effc.ct the necessary improvements .might entail a substantial expenditure of money, but my executive ventures to urge upon the council that thio matter is one which should ■be remedied, no matter what the expense, before, a serious accident takes place, and wo therefore respectfully submit this question to the council with the request that it bo given immediate attention."
