To'assist in "raising <funds for-a new parish hall and Sunday school at Ka<roi'i; ,1 sale ol -work" was opened in the Iviiron borough Council' Chambers by Mr. K, A. Wright, .Mil'., yesterday afternoon. ' The Jtcv. G. Woodward wel* corned 11? Wright, who was. accompanied by Mrs. Wright; and introduced liim to the large gathering which had assembled in the oliamUers. Air. ■ Wright spoke of itlie iine woi'k whicli women did for ' their churches, and emphasised the value of a Sunday school to "the boys and girls of the district, particularly from, an educative point of view. Tailby left for the north, tho latter travelling in a navy bluo sorgo cdstume' trimmed with squirrel, and a navy bluo toquo with clusters of cher--1 ries. The bridegroom, who was.a nrst lieutenant in the N.Z.E.F., was invalid*, ed to New Zealand after serving in France. - Orphanage Bazaar. ■ The Town Hall presented an •animated appoarauce last evening with tho vnnoua colours of tho dancers' costumes, tho gaily decorated stalls with their richlyladen displays, of pretty and' useful ar- ' ticles, and the various flags bedecking ' the hall. The innumerable side-shows, tho music of St. Mary's Convent orchestra, the excitement caused by Uio tugw- : war contests, arid the graceful performances of Miss Barbara Putnam's dancing troupo all combined to make tlio; seeno an animated one. Brisk business was 1 the result of last tiight'6 effort, and the stallholders arid their assistants had a most strenuous evening in coping with the business offering. The tea kiosk and side-shows were, well patronised. To-night: a fresh programme will be presented, and a largo number of raffles will bfi drnwn.; ■ '
