MEETING OF CREDITORS

ESTATE OP W. S. HARRIS. Tho Official Assignee (Jfr. S. Tausiey) preuided over a mediae of creditors iu the bankrupt estate of William Stephen Harris, baker, o£ Kona Bay; held yesterday afternoon.

The statement submitted by tho bankrupt showed that his debts (unsecured) were .-6239 Bs. 4(1. His assets consisted. of stock-in-trade, £70; buok debts, £57 17s. 9d.; total,. £127 17a. 9d., showing a deficiency of - £lU' 10s. 2d. Tho principal creditors aro Burch and Co., £45 Gs., A. S. I'atersou and Co., £60; Baldwin and Co., £30; 11. Berry and Co., £24; Bond and Bond, Auckland, £24 18s.; H. Jones, grocer, liona Bay, £1S; lloorc, Wilson and Co., Wellington £11 13s. Id.; and six others for small amouats.

The bankrupt -was not present. The Official Assignee said that he sent tho notices out on Saturday and posted ono to the bankrupt at' Dannevirke but ho understood that he had recently changed his address, and it was believed he waß at present in U'anganui, so may not have got the notice.

A creditor said that ho saw Harris in Wanganui on Saturday. The Official Assignee Baid that the bankrupt put his debts down at £239 Bs. 4d.

Mr. Tansley said that ho. called for tenders for the business as a going concern, but had as yet received no offera. The stock had been taken, and tho valuo came out at about £71, which was about what tho debtor placed it lit. Tho accbuuts for; the book debts were-- ready lo lie sent' out. There were no books, and no bank passbook, but lie would get a copy of the latter froid the bank. Tho Official Assignee suggested that in view of the bankrupt's absence it would be advisablo to adjourn tho meeting for a week, and it waß eventually agreed to hold tho meeting on Thursday, November 11.

A creditor said ihat it was accessary that the bankrupt should bo present, as it was desired to ask him certain questions.
