DENT : —♦- • VALEDICTORY GATHERING. The Rev. G. W. Dent, who has been the vicar of St. Matthew's Church. Brooklyn, for the past threo and a "mill years, and who is Icavinc for the Greytown : pastorate on Monday • next, was farewelled by the residents of Brooklyn at a social eatherinc .held in Fultford's Hall last evening. A committee, of whom the Rev, B. Hutson (Presbyterian) was chairman. Was responsible for the gathering, which rroved highly successful. Mr. G. Mitchell, JI.P., who presided, said that Mr. Dent had been associated with their ornate and civic life for three and a half -years. They would ail agree thai, it did not matter to what denomination one beloneed or what ideas were held about religion, all realised there was samethine better' to work for than what was obtainable on this earth. During the three end a half years that the Hev. Dent had been amongst them he had Tnaae himself extremely Popular by his haVd work and high Christian example., He was u small man " with a big heart. He wished both Mr. 'arid Mrs. Dent God joeed, nrospenty, and all the blessings God grants to man on tlilß earth.. He trusted the reverend gentleman's health would improve in his new location. Mr. J. N. Evans (vicar's warden) thanked; those present for attending to farewell the Anglican parson, who he felt sure had done a great deal of good during his residence In the district. Mr. A. J. White, chairman of the School A'T- J- B Hopkirk. headmaster of'the Brooklyn Public School, and tho |'ev. W. S. Boilings (Baptist)' also spoke in appreciation ot the services rendered rm. distnet by the guest of the evening. ' • i § . *.
