Althougli the floods have gone doivu considerably there are still very large areas under water, and in some cases it will bo a considerable ' 11,10 before tlie lands are clear of water. A run .round the district to-day indicates that the damage will. 1» very heavy. Spring crops, which looked piomising before the floods, lmvo been entirely washed out. Cattle, more especially dairy cows, are eufleriiig through the scarcity of feed, being cooped up m small areas.
