A SOUTH ISLAND PROJECT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, November 1. The New Zealand Aero Transport Company has received a formal offer nt a loan of two Avros and three do Ilaviland aeroplanes, now at Washdyke, on condition that the machines aro kept in an airworthy condition and are used in -..ie advancement of aviation in the Dominion. The aerodrome at Washdyke is almost completed, and the company expects to be'earrying out trips in a fortnight. The intention is to establish ;i service from Timaru to Inverc-argill, and from Timaru to Mount Cook, and later to include Queenstown. MACHINES FOR DEFENCE DEPARTMENT. Christcliurch, November 1. Tlio steamer Woodarra, now at Lyttelton from the United Kingdom, brought fourteen aeroplanes for the Deforce Department. It is understood that the consignment consists of twolvo.Avro machines and two D.H.9 bombing machines. Tliev will bo stored at Soekburn.
