The monthly meeting of the-Wairarapn South County Council was held on Saturday at Carterton, Councillor W. Perry : presiding. The Department of Internal Affairs advisod that, the petition of certain ratepayers of the Borough of Carterton to be included in the county had Ikou granted, with tlio exception of part of No. 3 petition. An-application was received from the. • Featherston County Council for a contribution to tho cost of proposed improvements to tho Longbush lload. It was decided that Councillors D. M'Gregor and B. Cooper meet representatives of the Featheraton Council to discuss improvements. Mr. C. Smith wrote regarding ' expenditure of loan money and grants,on tUlmiral and Soldiers roudß. -Lt decided that tho representative of the riding interview Mr. A. D. M Lood, . At P and the Minister of Public Works to ask if 'tho loan moneys are expended on the Admiral l(oad to Ino deviation, whother tho grants can expended in eriual proportion down the Admiral and Soldier's roads. Mr. J. Barnaul was granted' permission to erect a temporary motor shed on tile Admiral Road site. It was decided: "That the overseer bo instructed to clear out the creek leading from the gravel pit on Somerset Road, and that- a sot of 2ft. pipes be put in on Waterson's Road when oprortunity offers. That a culvert at ttip 1 unction of Riversdalo and Wftilmkeko roads be lifted nnd cleared of willow roots, and that tho overseer prospect for metal ill the vicinity of Five Bob Creek bridge. It was also decided that Councillors M'Gregor and Coopor wait upon Mr. T; J. Rathbono with a. view to making somo arrangement as to heavy traffic on the Admiral Road. Further patching is to bo carried out on main road north ond south, and tho overseer is to endeavour to arrange with Mr. "W. Howard Booth for a trial of his heavy roller on tho main road, the council to arrango traction haulage. Mr. S. Dalyloish's offer to lend horses nnd cart and to allow metal "to bo •taken from his pit for patching Longbush Road was accepted.
