The first meeting of the Provisional Committee set up by th« recent hydroelectric couference at Eeilding to arrange the boundaries of the proposed power board district was held in lfctlding on Friday, when the I'eilding borough a.nd the Manawatu. Kiwitoa, Orona and Pbhangina counties wero represented.. It was pointed out that Pallnei'ston North and Kairaiigfi wero endeavouring to obtain consent to form ft separate power district, while the Maniiwatu county wished to do the same. Tho Government's idea was that the whole area between the Manawatu and llangitikei rivers should be included in one big district. After considerable discussion the following resolution was carried: "That the whole of tho area doiined by tho hydro-electric department on tho map as the Manawalu Power .Hoard district, comprising that district between the Manawalu and Hungilikoi rivers (oxcluding Himatangi block), bo the power board district; any county or borough not consenting to be included in such district to be regarded as on outer area of such board." The following wero elected an executive conimitteo: jteasrs. Harfoi-d, M'Klrcy, Kryco and Smart:, with power to add. On tho motion of Sir Jniues Wilson, a. resolution was passed as follows: "That in .the opinion of the meeting it i.s the duly of the Government to run trammii-sion service lines up tho Oroun and Pobangina rivers so as to give tlio lorge areas up these rivers olectric current "ns soon as posnible." Mr.- Charles Hubbard, Foilding's olectrical engineer, was appointed secretary to the Provisional Committco in terms of a proposition made by him that ho lw recommended to tho board as engineer in charge of *:lio reticulation of tho district at a wilary of .(GOO por year.
