BURNSIDE STOCK SALE

By Telegraph—Press AsßOc'atlfln. Dunedin, October 27. There was a large number of fat'cattle offered at Bitrnside to-day. The quality of many was of a secondary character, and pricte in consequence were a shade weaker. Sheep and pigs were in small supply, and were disposed of at prices on a par with late, rates. Spring lambs were forward in slightly increased numbers, mid were readily disposed of at good prices. The first shorn sheep for this season made their appearance, and sold at current rates. Fat cattle—247 head were yarded. A large proportion was in an unfinished condition. Vendors were evidently induced to send cattle forward by the high prices realised at la=t week's sale. Prime bullocks sold at from .£26 to .£32, medium .£1!) to .£25. light and unfinished sorts from .£ls 10s. upwards. Prime heifers realised from .£lB to .£24, medium XI,G to il7 10s„ light and aged from .£ll upwards. Store cattle—A.. large yarding was offered. the quality of which was a little above the average of late yardings. Competition was good, but the prices realised were a shade below those lately ruling. Sheep—A yarding of 1501. Competition was not so brisk as might havo been anticipated, and the prices realised were about on a par with the previous week's rates. Shorn sheep realised from 245. 6(1. to lis., a head, exta-a prime heavy weight woolly wethers up to G4s. 9d., prime 50s. to 5Ss. 9d., medium 435. Cd. to ifis. 6d„ light and unfinished kinds from 38s. upwards; prime ewes from 40s. to 465.. medium 355. to 3!is., light and aged from 30s. upwards.

Lambs—'Thirty-eight spring: lnmbs were offered for sale. Th« prices ranged from 255. 6d. to 40s. a head.

Pigs—A small yarding, which was disposed of under keen competition at prices on a par with late rates. Best haconers realised from Is. to Is. Id. per lb., and best porkers from Is. 2d. to Is. Sid. per lb.
