SUBDIVISION OF SYRIA.
INTERESTS OF PALESTINE IGNORED. London, October 27. The Jerusalem Press is complaining that the subdivision of Syria by France fgpores the interests; of Palestine in the greater part of Galilee.' The districts of Tyre and Sidon are now part of Lebanon State,- and the whole Eastern Jordan tableland has been joined to Damascus. Biblical Gilead is now no man's land. The Palestine that remains consists of a strip of territory corresponding to tilie Judea of the Roman Empire. Its economic resources arc severely limited, and will not suffice for the needs of a healthy colonising people.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
