Miss Ruby Edgorley has been appointed to tli,B position of n district nurse by tho St John Ambulance Association in Auckland Miss Edgcrley recently returned from France and England, where she served during the war.
Mr. and Mrs. Burdekin (Nelson) are staying with Miss Halse, Tiiiakori Road.
Mrs. John Hannah. has returned to New Zealand from Colombo, and is staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nicliolls, Harbour View.
The engagement is announced-of Miss Bernice Michel, eldest dnujhter of the Hon. H. L and Mrs. Michel, of Hokitika, to 'Mr. Thomas Robort Saywell,-' of the Public Ti'ust Department, Greymouth, youngest son of the late Mr. Thomas Saywell, of Richmond, Nelson.
Private advice has been received in Christchurch of the marriage of Mrs. Helens Cross to M,r. G. D. Greenwood, of Teviotdale. The wedding, took place at St. Saviour's Church, Sydney, the Rev P Greenwood officiating. After tlij ceremony the guests were entertained at dinner at the Australia, those present including Mr. and Mrs Harold Grccnwuod, late of Netliorwood, Omihi. Mr. I and Mrs. Greenwood are at present tour'ing Queensland;;

Tlin bride, who wag given away by her. bro- ' tber, Mr. Theo Tresizo, wore a, cream coat and skirt, and hat; wreathed with pink loses. She was attended by Mis* Bowler, who wore a grey costume and blue hat Mr. Robert Duncan was_ tho best man, Mrs. Tresizo (the bride? mother) wore a cream hair-striped costume and black and white hat.- and Mrs. \V. Russoll (sister of tho bride) was in blue velvet embroidered in soft tones and hat to match. Only immediate relatives wero present.
The squad from tho Wellington Smith Nursing Division (Miss M. 'Fossetto, Belts, Miss K. M'Jnnes, and Miss L Hankins), who competo'l in tho Canterbury anuuarcompclition, rctnrnod from Christchurch on Wednesday morning, well pleased with their first oilort in that city, having won second place 111 first aid, third in homo nursing, and third in tile Inior-District Cup contest. Two possibles". were gained, also a hrst place in transport work, and Miss M. Fossette chins half a mark behind the winner in thi individual test for squad leaders.
Tho Hospital Board decided yesterday that Nurses A. Millie and A. M. Sargent be promoted to sisters on tho nursing staff from October 7, 1920, awl that the resignations of Nurses E. Julius, H. M. Robertson and E. Jones, who havo completed their training be accepted with regret.
Yesterday the Hospital Board received with regret the resignation of Sister M. Freston as assistant-matron. It was decided fo forward to Sister Preston a special letter of appreciation of her eervices. Sister Lampp has been appointed sistcr-in-clinrge of tho Nurses Home at the General Hospital. Nurse M. Ongley, district nnrso at Pnraparauiuu, in her report for the year ended Ootober 10, 1920. states that she paid 286 visits and attended 121 cases, 2-4 accident cases, -and"l 4 -minor injuries. Fees collected during tho yoar amounted to <£27 65., outstanding fees .£9 lis.
