Energetic committees of ladies have been working for many rtinlie the bazaar a sin-cess Orphanage has. done untold good during tSe past lialf a- century The Sisters of Mercv. under whose charze the orphansare placed, liavo bravely struggled to feed • and clothe their tender charges but without much - assistance from- the pumio until the .present year. There arci now some 300 children housed m St. Josephs Orphanago. which, with the present cost of liv'ng. makes the work of maintaining thCB" children a source of financial worry to the ' good' nuns, who have been at their wits' end to make ends meet, ine bazaar will run for two weeks, and will give the public an opportunity of assistin<* a most deserving Institution. In ad* dition to. helping a worthy cause, those who patronise the bazaar will have tno opportunity of enjoying the .pulls in tno tujr-of-war tournament. Eight teams'nave entered, and as- ther are very powerful ones, Gomo good pulls may.be expccted. To-nipht. at 8.30. Dnlton's A team will • pull with Dalton's B team, and at 9.30 Sullivan's team will null witli Brlces. , The prize-money for the turj-of-war tournament'is £40 for the first prizo, and £10 . for the sccond prize. . , I Another attraction' will be the floral dancing of somo one hundred and twenty young ladies, under the direction of Miss Barbariv -Putnam.- Some, excellent stalls of fancy goods and useful articles will be managed by committees of .ladies, as well ; nfl an up-to-date tea kiosk, nriyei for admißsion are la; for men, and 6d. for ladies.
