A comprehensive, review of the position in connection with tho schoinc for hc.w Plymouth (harbour development -was made at u special ineoting of'tho Harbour Board to-day. Primarily, ' tho business was to consider a proposal to nmlco an amendment to-tho original scheme to provide, for additional berthage to meet tne growing requirements of the port. Tho suggestion was to put out a. quay from the present wharf for a distance of about 1600 feet, This was turned down on tho -grounds of expense, tho engineers (Messrs ©lair,' Mason and Lee) estimating that the scheme would necessitate an expenditure of about .£200,000.
Tho resignations of Messrs, Blnir Mason and Leo were tendered. They suggested that a resident engineer should bo procured to give full tijno to the supervision of tho work, and tho board accepted the •resignations, The board will probably retain Mt. ffiair Masqn as consulting engineer, while a permanent engineer will be appointed. Tho board decided to expedite tho breakwater extension for providing now wharves:
