. —0 ANNUAL CONVENTION OPENED IN SYDNEY. (Bee. October 21, 9.45 p.m.) Sydney, October 21. The annual convention of the Young Men's Christian Association, including New Zealand representatives, lms opened. Mr. G. P. Oxley,'-o£ New Zealand, was elected vice-president. The report of the New Zealand National Committee "was read by Mr. Varney, the secretary, and disclosed healthy progress in the Dominion. The financial report for Australasia showed that from April, 1916. to the end of last _ December ■£741,685 had been expended in the various war centres. The convention decided in favour of the establishment of an Australasian historical library in connection with the movement.—Press Assn.
