FLIGHT ACROSS NORTH ISLAND
FROM WANGANUI TO HASTINGS IN 3 HOURS 22 MINUTE'S. Captain R. Russell, Q.F.C., Croix do Guerre, the pilot of Messre. Walsh srothcts' 100 li.p. Avro. machine, left Wanganui yesterday morning at 10.25 o'clock on a fliglit to Hastings, an approximate distance by air of 149 miles. Marton (22 miles away) was passed over at 10.42 a.m., and Feilding (.'l6 miles) at 10.53 a.m. A landing was made there at 10.54 a.m., and the machine departed on the next stage of the flight to l'almerston North (4G miles from Wanganui) at 11.17 a.m. ' Pnlmerston North was reached at 11.25, and at Dannevirke (78 miles) another landing was made at 12.7 p.m. Leaving DannefirKo at 1.12 p.m., Captain- Russell passed over Takapau at '1.30 Waipukurau 0119 miles) at 1.39 and Waipawa (121 miles) at 1.-15 p.m. Hastings (25 miles from M'aipawa) was reached at 2.10 p.m. Tho times of arrival at and departure from the various towns en route were supplied by Mr. A. T. Markman, Secre- ' tary to the Post Office.
