THE WOOL POSITION

MANUFACTURE IN GERMAN MILLS SUGGESTED. .By T«le»raph,-Bpeoiol Correijondent. Wanganui, October 18. The wool position is exciting more than ordinary interest among the producers, who are all anxiously awaiting the coming sales for an 'indication of the new basis of prices. It Has been suggested that farmers should hold their new clip rather than sacrifice it, but at a meeting of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce last night Mr..Allan fiobinson, a well-known farmer, suggested, that. New Zealand wool should be sent to mills in Germany to bo manufactured. It would enable Germany in a measure to pay her indemnity. He maintained that English manufacurers were actually sending wool oyer to Germany to get it manufactured into cloth as an extension of their business in England. Other speakers took the , opposite view, and held that it would be preferable to do without German trade than help that nation to again build up its markets at the expense of the British. That ooinion was supported by n majority of tlioso present, and the matter was not pursued further.
