« WRANGEL'S FORCES DEFEATED REDS' ATTACKS ON UKRAINIAN FRONTS REPULSED (By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyrinht London, October 13. A Moscow wireless message claims that the Bolsheviks inflicted a severe defeat on Wrangel's Second Army near Nikopol. The enemy's retreat was disorderly. Enormous trophies were captured, while Wrangel's Smolensk and Alexareff iWantry regiments were entirely destroyed. General Babineff, commander of the Kuban Division, was killed. Tho Bolshevik armies have also made continuous fierce attacks on the Ukrainian front. Sanguinary fighting is in progress at. the Bug bridgeheads. Thus far the Ukrainians have repulsed the Reds.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. POLES WITHDRaTfRQM MINSK (Rec. October 20, 1.10 a.m.) London, October 10. A Warsaw communique dated Octobci 17 chronicles a continual advance towards the Lettish frontier, the Polish detachments in the direction of Minsk withdrawing to a fixed line, they having temporarily occupied the town. The latter statement tends to confirm tho Bolshevik claim of having occupied Miusk. —Reutcr. REPUBLIC OFIifRAL LITHUANIA ZELIGOWSKI PROCLAIMS HIMSELF SUPREME COMMANDER. (Rec. October 19, 7.20 p.m.) Warsaw, October 19. General Zeligowski has proclaimed himself supreme commander of Central Lithuania, with power to appoint an executive.
