4 — NO PROSECUTIONS AFTER ARMISTICE ANNIVERSARY MR. MASSEY'S ANNOUNCEMENT "Cabinet has decided that there shall be no more prosecutions of conscientious objectors or defaulters," said the Prime Minister in the House of Representatives last night. "I don't know that we have any conscientious objeotors in prison now. I think there nve a few defaulters in prison This derision will operate from the anniversary 0 f Armistice Day, i a little less ,thnn a month from now. "I want to make it perfectly clear that what is intended by Cabinet will not affect defaulters who have not dono their duty during the war period, and conse- • quontly have been deprived for a. period of civil and politico! rights. The decision will not intorfere with them in the slightest." Mr. .Witty (Riccarton): Does it mean that, those shirkors who have not yet been caught will not be bothered about? Mr. Massey: Yes. We understand a liuiribor of men are still in hiding, I don't know where.
