The death is announced of the Rev. Simpson Johnson, of London, an exprcsident of the British Wesleyan Confernce. and for several years past the general secretary of the London Mission and Extension Fund.

On the eve of his marriage, Mr. TF. D M'Lean, of Huddart-Parker, Ltd., was met by his colleagues and presented with a dinner service. Mr C W. Jones (manager for New Zealand) made the presentation, and Mr. M'Lean suitably responded. Mr.-and Mrs. M'Lean leave bv the Ulimaroa to-morrow for. Sydney on their honeymoon.

The death occurred in the Ofaki hospital on Sunday of Mr. Harry Bates, of Waikanae. Deceased was 56 years of age.

Mr. Milson, of the office staff of the Lower Hutt Borough Council, has been appointed to the position of assistanttown clerk at Nolspn. Prior to his appointment at Lower Hutt Mr. Milson. was a member of the Stratford Borough Council staff.

The death occiii-red at Dunediri suddenly on Mondav of Sir. John-Curry, formerly of Wellington. The deceased served in the South African War, and was a member of the Trwthani Camp Band during the recent war.
