Hospitals, met the Southland and Wallace Ho-pitul Boards to-day, and urged the establishment of a consumptive sanatorium for the South, Island at Clyde, which is considered to have the clearest atmosphere in the, world. It was hoped that South Island boards, including North Canterbury, and possibly Ashburtcn, would contribute towards the cost of the institution. It. was estimated that a sanatorium containing from 120 to 150 beds would cost .£50,000, ol which the Government would find i'ii.OOO and tho / boards tho balance. The Government was practically certain to undertake the maintenance of the institution.
