INTERNATIONAL POSTAL RATES

TASK 01?. READJUSTMENT. ' (Eec. October 15, 7.25 p.m. 1 ) Madrid, October 14. The Postal Conference will probably last a further six weeks. The agenda included two thousand propositions, but the principal task is to readjust the Inteniationnf postal rates, owing to the extraordinary . differences in exchanges in countries within the postal union, whereby the face values of 6tamp3 bear no relation to money values. The Conference is endeavouring to .find a'solution by adopting the gold franc as the standard. By this means all international postages will bo regulated, thus equalising values. It is also proposed to raise all international postages to meet the increased cost of postal services.—Aus.-N.Z Cable Assn.
