Vice-Segal. His Excellency the Governor-General is a keen crickgter, and this afternoon he will spend part of his time in witnessing the. opening match of the season on the Basin Deserve. On Monday afternoon, he will hold a levee, and on Tuesday night he will bo the guest of tho Wellington Club at dinner. On Thurs-day-night next he will "speak at the Navy League celebration, in connection with Nelson Day. On October 23 he will bo present at the opening of tho AVellington liacing Club's Spring Me«ting, . and in the evening he will afend a dinner to be given in hin honour.by the club. His Excellency will also attend the race* at on the following Monday (Labour Day).
Mr. P. 0. P. Beck has left Wellington on an extended business trip to England and the Continent
