"Under the provisions of tho Samoa Customs Order merchants who forward good 9 to Western Samoa of German or Austrian manufacture aro required to obtain a license from the Minister of Customs before tho goods can bo sont to tho mandated territory. Tho Minister of External Affairs, tho Hon. Mr. Ifcc, stated yesterday that recently a shipment of mouldings of German' origin had been forwarded by a New Zealand house to a customer in Samoa; Those mouldings wero held up by tho authorities in Samoa pending inquiries, \fnich revealed that the mouldings hod apparently bocu in stock in Nsvr Zealand for a considerable period, and the Administration therefore permitted them to be landed. ' "It will b* well," stated the Ministor, "for New Zealand merchants to remenibsr that it is necessary to procur* from the Ministor of Customs a license with respect to any German or Austrian goods whicli they may wtfh to send to thoir customers in Samoa."
