LABOUR UNIONS
Sir—Considering the vast number of unions in existence it may seem ridiculous to suggest any addition to the number. From the writer's point of view, wo arc just one short of what is necessary. We require a union of free men, who are able and willing to work untrammelled by any underground, influences such as axe well known to exist. Those who assume the right to dictate when other,? shall work at their own "go-slow" rate, or suspend operations altogether, are a menace to the community by reason of their interference with the usual business of all sections of the people, and iu restraint of trade, which is illegal. I am fully persuaded that there are scores, nay, hundreds, of men who would most willingly work on the wharves, or in the mines were it not that they would be subjected to insults and indignities of every conceivable kind bj; those who rule tho unions, and who wish to rulo the country. Let the Government stand out and call for free and willing workers, and protect them in the public interest. Let there be a separation of the sheep from the goats, if the latter don't like to bj superseded and put on one side, then let them go to Russia to their Bolshevik friends, tlio Dominion would be the gainer. Just fancy these people_ desiring to control "production, distribution, and exchange" I They produce next to nothing, are blooking instead of assisting distribution, and consequently there would be nothing to exchange.—l am, eto.. A PRODUCER.
