"PRICES AS USUAL"

Sir,—Last evening I duoided with several friends to visit a certain picture theatre, advertising a good programme and "prices as usual." On arrival wo paid our Is. Id. each, and were astonished to find that in place of about the usual 20 rows of seats in tho front being kept for patrons paying this price, only five ur six rows were allotted, securely inpocl olf. As all these seats wore occupied weil before tlite programme commenced we juid an oxtra sixpence and were promptly ushered through another door, and found ourselves right at tho very back of the theatre, and again well roped in, with a choice of some eight rows only. Dolioving a mistake had bee.ii ma<]f:, we inquired from tho usher, and were curtly informed that "the seats ate as uauol, and if you want to saj a good show you must pay for it." Goodness only knows what people were being asked to pay for 6*&ts in the large number of rows between tho Is. Id. and Is. 7d. seats. The usher was to a certain extent correct in stating that "tho are as usual," but what ot the rearrangement in the sealing? Iho extra sixpence was neither hero nor there, but if the public pay for good Beats they do expect just treatment, and not to be hoodwinked by "catcW wlvprtiswnon.*.1 am ' etC ' v ONE AND SEVKNPENCE."
