Bjr Telcjruph—Profs Asindatlon. Christohurch, October 4. The newspapor clerks' dispute was before tho Conciliation Council to-day and an agreement was arrived at. The hours of work were fixed at 48 per week find the wages as follows: First year, liOs.; second, 25ii.: third, 305.; fourth, 405.; fifth. 52a.; thereafter, 80s.; men of 25 with live yean' experience, .£4 4s. Women; First year, 205.; second, 255.; third, 305.; fourth, 355.; fifth, 403.; thereafter, 60s. Bonuses aro to bo paid until the Court orders otherwise*. Holders of a matriculation or senior civil service pass nro to receive ss. additional and holders .of a. pass certificate in commercial accountancy a further ss. The term of the award was fixed for two years. The Timaru newspaper offices were excluded from the agreement.
