* HUIA V. OTAKI. ' At Karori Park, on Saturday," a return match was played between teams' representing the Huia and Otaki Clubs, and resulted in-a.draw. The gamo was keen nnd willing, though often ragged. Both teams, 1 who usually may be -depended upon to provide an interesting and fast game, seemed to be deoidedlr off colour. Otaki, the heavier team, depended on hnnl-hitting and following-up tactics, whilo Huia mainly utilised -their forwards for fast, short, passing rushes. Tactical mistakes, however, were many on both sides. '
Somo time after the start thja Huia forwards passed the ball swiftly' from man to ■ man, and Hailwood, who toceived just past half-way, hit and followed up. The Otaki goal-keeper ran out to clear, but missed badly, and Hailwood dribbled the ball into the net. Huin, 1; Otaki, nil. Half-tiine came soon after.
On resuming, Otaki act out to score, and after a determined effort Satherley found -the net with ' a stinging shot. Iluia, 1; Otaki, 1. Huia had all the best of the play for the next 15 -minutes, and during that lime Keys succeeded in finding tho net twice with shots which pave the defending goal-keper no chance. .Huia, 3; Otaki, 1. Livened by these inverses, Otaki attacked in vigorous stylo, and it was not long before Ayn> scared their second goal. Huia, 3; Otaki, 2. Otaki became aggressivo once more, and Giddeps equalised the score. Otaki, 3; Huia,- 3. ■ • - • , • ■ , , Fivo matches have now ten played between these two clubs, and the record is,-each team having won ono game each, and three matches having been drawn. -Jtosws. • HUIA HOCKET CLUB, Tho Huia Hockey Club held ft dinner at As tor House nonis on, Saturday evening, and ndvantage was takon of the occasion to entertain the visiting Otiaki hockey team. Tho club captain, Mr. L. Butcher/ welcomed tlio visitor*, and m o. short apcecli congratulated Obaki on tho splendid gamo they had put up that d! &'r. Nicholson,-manager of the Otaki team, replied. . , Mr.'Butcher referred to the eeassns activities, and said the club had every reason to be proud of its record, though neither team, succeeded in gaining championship honours. The junior team were runners-up -in the championship, with only one defeat' for . the soaßon. Mr Keys, oaptain of the sfemor team, wbn Mr. Butcher's trophy for the most useful mail in the senior team, and Mt. t (Hawken won the trophy for tho most improved player in the junior team. Mrs Casey presented a stick for the nlaver scoring tho highest aggregate nnmW of goals in tho junior team, and this went to Mr. L. Butcher.
