MARRIAGE AMENDMENT BILL
COMMITTEE TO MEET THIS WEEK.
The special committee set up by the House of Representatives to consider the Marriage Amendment Bill is to meet tomorrow for the election of a chairman and the consideration of the order of business. This Bill contains the new clause, inserted by the Legislative Council, Tela ting to the Roman Catholic Church's view of marriage. A proposal will bo made that the committee shall admit Press reporters to its prooeedinfta while evidence is being taken. It is by 110 means certain that this Bui will get through the Souse this session. A considerable amount of evidence haa to be heard- by the committee, and the end of the session will not be far avray by the time the committee makes its report. A little opposition after that utago might lie fatal to tho Bill s chance j for the present session.
