The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated September 29, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—"Wool sales: Director of Kaw Materials has decided to curtail series, which will finish by October 1. This week's cffcring consists of Australian meijlno creasy, 19,200; scoured, 4700; crosßbreds, greasy, 9600; scoured, 2500; New Zealand crossbred, eieasy, 7850; Bcoured, 2150; sliped, 550. Demand continues indifferent, buyers operating from hand to mouth. Under 50 per cent, of total offering sold, bulk ■wlthdva-.vn consists of low croßsbreds." LONDON TALLOW SALES. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having received the following cablegram-from their london house, under date of September 29:—"Tallow: 1860 casks offered, 945 sold. . MONEY MARKET. The Bank of England discount rate, which had stood at 5 ner cent, since April 6. 1917, on which date It was reduced from 5J per cent., was raised to 6 per cert, on November 6. 1919. and to 7 per cent, on April 15. 1920. OPEN MARKET RATES. The open market rate for throe months' bills is 6J per cent., as compared with 68 per cent, last week and 3j per cent, last year. Short loans rro quoted at 6i per cent, as against 6} r.cr cent, last week, and 3 per cent, last year. '
