ALLEGED PROFITEERING IN TWEEDS
"THE PUBLIC WILL BE STAGrSEEED!"
Charges of profiteering were to have been heard in tho Magistrates Court yesterday morning; beloro Mr. i. 'Hunt. S.M., but on the applicationi of Sir V S. Iv. Macassey, Crown bollcitor, the hearing was adjourned for a fortnight. There were ten informations against four wholesale firms Bing, Hap ns and; Co. (three charges). son and Co. (too charges), Eobeit. Wil sou. and Co. (tour charges) and Mule* ond Aliearn (one charge). The t.ions were laid by the Boird of I • in rcspect of alleged profiteering ou the sale of tweeds. ~ . Mi. Macassey. in asking for the adiournment, said there were ten mfor mations against four business 6® ™ selling.. tweeds at prices unreasonably high. lie understood from Mi. 0. r. Fkewett, K.C., who was appearing for the defendants, that he intended to raise the Question of rep acement value, and as tljat matter Si" Court and n decision had not jet been given, the Adjournment was advisable.
