COST OF COAL PRODUCTION
COMMISSION TO INQUIRE IN AUSTRALIA. Sydney, September 28. Aa tlie result of Mr. Hughes's conference with the coal owners, tho Commonwealth is appointing a Royal Commission to inquire into tho increaso in the cost of coal production, in view of the recent award. Tho owners meanwhile have been given permission to increaso the price of export coal by 4s. a ton, os from yestei-day. The local price, 17s. 9d. per ton, plus the added cost of production, will be retrospective—Press Assn.
