VOCATIONAL TRAINING
For some time past endeavonra have been made by thfe Vocation Officer to secure a shop window in a suitable business locality in which. to display for public inspection and sale articles manufactured by returned soldier patients at the Trentham Military Hospital, under the vocational training scheme, tot without success. As a consequence the products of tha soldiers have largely accumulated. The difficulty has now been overcome through Mpssrs. George Winder and James Smith', in response to advances made by the Vocation Office?, consenting to allot; a window for the exhibit of soldiers' work in the premises at the corner of Manners and Cuba Streets, which are temporarily beingl • rendered vacant through Mr. Winder's retirement from business. The goods to be offered ar« fully representative of the occupational sido of (the training indulged in by thi seriously disabled' patients at. the hospital, and include a wide variety _of leather bags, purses, wallets. mocn&iiM in all shades and sizes, shopping baskets, 9b(apely willow baskets in various shades, etc. All the articles are of excelled finish, testifying eloquently to the industry of the students and the careful and painstaking tuition imparted by the instructional staff. Prices of all articles have been fixed at a minimum, and are expected. to bo within the means of- all sections of the community. The proceeds will be credited to the soldiers recreation fund at the hospital, to'be. disbursed subsequently among the students on the basis of attendance put in at the classes. It is hoped to have the goods ready for display and sale on Thursday morning. The general public are cordially invited to inspect the exhibit.
