PROFESSIONAL ORCHESTRA

The outstanding feature at the concert given last evening by the Wellington Professional Orchestra in Hio Majesty's Theatro was the presentation of the Pianoforte Concerto in Q Minor (Mendelssohn) by Miss Blanche Dump and orchestra. This splendid number was delicately and well played by Miss Crump, who is a. brilliant pianistc. She received a wellmerited encore, playing as a recall number a quaint little melody, which pleased the large audience assembled. The well known overture "überoit," by the full orchestra, received merited applause, Mr. Moschini's interpretation of Weber s finest work being excellent. The overture, as was the custom at the time of its creation, contains some of the melodies of tho opera. It, opens with Oberon 6 hunting calf on the French horn, answeicd by muted strings. This is soon followed by portions of the marche de tnamphe that heralds the entrance of Huon to the Court of Charlemagne This ■portion or the work, given to -the 'cellos, conplclo the material of the introduction, which ib impressive The. overture Proper'* striking, and a vigorous fugato movement, following tuneful melody by the darineLw* cedes a brilliant coda.
