LORD JELLICOE ARRIVES TO-DAY , SWEARING-IN CEREMONY THIS AFTERNOON CIVIC RECEPTION IN THE EVENING The new Governor-General (Admiral of the Fleet Viscount Jellicoe cf Scapa), is expected io arrive in Wellington Harbour aboard the Corinthic at about 9 o'clock this morning. Tho official welcomes will take place during the morning, and Lord Jellicoe will take the oath at tho main entrance to the Parliamentary Buildings at 3 p.m. The civic reception will lake place at the Town Hall in the evening. THE OFFICIAL PROGRAMME. His Excellency tho Administrator (Sir Robert .Stout), the Primp Minister (Mr. Massey) and other members of tho Ministry, will leave the ferry wharf on the Jnnio Seddcn at 9.15 a.m., and will proceed to the Corinthic in the stream, where they will welcome Lord Jellicoe. At about 11.10 a.m. Lord and Lady Jellicoe will transfer from the Corinthic to the ferry steamer Duchess, and will land at tho Queen's Wharf (outer tee) at 11.30 a.m. As the Governor-General comes down the gangway, a salute of 19 guns will be tired from Alexandra Barracks, and he will ihen inspect n guard of honour supplied by the sth (Wellington) Kegiment, under the command of Captain 1). C. Armstrong, M.C., and also Nos. 2(1 and 32/33 Senior Cadet Companies, and Amokura boy's, under the command of Lieutenant-Commander Earnshaw.

Tho chairman and members of the Harbour Board will oflicially welcome Their Excellencies, and a formal reception by the Mayor and City Councillors will take place at the main cntranco gates to the wharf. Their Excellencies will then proceed to Government House by motor, along Customhouse Quay, Willis Street, Manners Street, Courtenay Place, and Kent Terrace. . Tho swearing-in ceremony will take piaco on the main steps to Parliament Buildings at 3 p.m., and Their Excelcencies will leavo Government House at

2.15 p.m., via Kent Terrace, Courtenay Place, Manners Street, Willis Street, and Lambton Quay, and will enter Parliament grounds from the Molesworth Street entrance. At the conclusion of) tho ceremony, Their Excellencies will return to Government House via Lambton Quay, Willis Street, Manners Street, Cuba Street, Vivian Street, and Kent Terrace.

During the swearing-in ceremony tho Ptrcets in the vicinity of the Parliamentary Buildings will be lined by the Senior Cadet Companies of Wellington City and Suburbs (less Nos. 29, 34, 36, 37, and 38 companies). The City Engineer advises that immediately before the landing reception and during the formal welcome to Their Excellencies by the civic authorities at tho wharf gates, the Post Office Squaro will be closed to all traffic..

Arrangements have been made to admit as many of the public as possible to Hie wharf for iho landing reception.

The Harbour Board lias agreed to reserve the outer southern tee of tho Queen's Wharf for IOiW girls from the Wellington Girls' Colleges, Technical School, girls of the sth and Oth Standards of the public schools, and senior girls from all private schools. The chairman of the Education Board has approved of all the girls under tho control of the board going, and they aro asked to report to Mr. W. Foster at the Education Board Office, Mercer Street, with their teachers, at 9 a.m. to-day. Tho girls will lie provided with flags and ribbons as on previous occasions.

Members of the Early Settlers' Association, together with all pioneer settlers, arc requested to attend at the Town Hull this evening, to he present at tho citizens' reception and welcome to Their Excellencies Viscount and Lady Jcllicoe. Seats havo been reserved for tho elder members and pioneers, who must produce tickets issued for tho reunion. They can enter by tho Mercer Street "yard entrance, and should go early.

TO-NIGHT'S CIVIC BECEPTION. A civic reception to His Excellency Viscount Jellicoo and Lady Jollicoe will be tendered in the Town Hall at 8 o'clock to-night. Hie Worship tlie Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) will prisidc, and will present to Their Excellencies an address of welcome, from thfc citizens. Speeches will also be delivered by the Prime Minister (Eight Hon. W. F. Massey), the Leader of tho Opposition (Mr. T. M. Wilford), the Chief Justice. (Sir Robert Stout), Mr. R, A. Wright, M.P., and Mr. \V. Perry (president of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association). There will also be a programme of musical items, and the City Organist (Mr. Bernard F. Page) will preside nt the organ. A feature of the reception will be the presenco of the members of the Early Settlers' Association, for whom a portion of tho hall will 'be reserved, Apart from tho early settlers, no invitations have been issued for the function, and tho Mayor expresses the bopo that the public will (to honour to the. occasion by ensuring that there will be a largo atendance. ■

In connection with the welcome to be accorded to Viscount Jellicoo this morning, • that of tho Wellington Harbour Board will take precedence. His Excellency will arrive at the north end of No. "l (the outer tee) of Queen's Wharf, and will he received by a guard of honour. With the Prime Minister (Bight Hon. W. V. Massey) Lord Jelhcce will be escorted to the northern end of "B Shed, where rho chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board (Mr. J. G. Hnrkness) will bo introduced to His Excellency by Mr. Massey. Mr. HarKness will then Tead an address of welcome to which His Excellency will briefly respond The outer end of Queen s Wliitrt will bo barricaded off, so that only those with passes will be permitted to enter as it is recognised that any over-, crowding wculd be fraught with great danger.
