AUKUStine's team held a social and dancefu their club room on Saturday evening. Several members from the championship team were present, and a pleasant evening was passed in dancing, games, etc. Tho decorations of the rail were very effective, lycopodium being much in evidence. Messrs. Yates and Aitchison caricd out the duties of M.0.. and the danco music was supplied by Miss Wadsworth .and Mr. N. Craig, Misses Kirk and Hil playing the extras. Supper was provided by the ladies. _ . The official opening of the Petone Tennis Club will tako place on October 7. An amusing match between the ladies and men's teams 67 fife St. Augustine s Hockey Club was played on the Relation • Ground on Saturday afternoon. The contest, which was of a fairly even _ nature— 'the-men having agreed to play in feminine apaprel-rcsul'lbi! in a win for the men's team by 6 goals to 4. • The annual social of the 'Wesley loting : Men's Instituto was held on Saturday evening, the Ecv. 0. Blair presiding over a large attendance. An aeceptablp programme was submitted, and the various games engaged in proved highly enjoyable. The latter part 6* iifc evening took the form of a banquet, when a lengthy toast list was honoured.
